United Church Women

Learning together, growing friendships, and caring for both church and community, two United Church Women’s (UCW) groups are a vital part of our congregation.

The UCW’s official purpose is to unite women of the congregation for the total mission of the church and to provide a medium through which they may express their loyalty and devotion to Jesus Christ in Christian witness, study, fellowship and service.

Our two groups (or circles) live out their ministries thus:

Circle One has a membership of 13. Meetings are in the church’s Fellowship Hall the 3rd Monday evening except January and February when meetings are cancelled. There is usually a guest speaker; sometimes study on a church-related theme. Outreach has been directed mostly to the daycare at the church as well as St. Matthew’s-Maryland Community Ministry.

Circle Eight, with a membership of 7 or 8 meets on an irregular basis in member’s homes. This group takes responsibility for collating and distributing the quarterly church newsletter.

Members of all circles work together for the annual fall Market fund-raiser. Each year the UCW makes a contribution to the church general fund, as well as to the United Church of Canada’s Mission and Service Fund. For more info, contact us here.
