"We Like Sheep" - a special concert by the Sunday School

Our Sunday School is growing!

This year we will have 2 Sunday School classes (3-5 year-olds, and 6-12 year olds) plus a Youth Group. The faith formation ministry group (Irene Greenwood staff resource) overseeing and supporting the children and youth programs is looking for people to help with this work. The hope it to have leaders volunteer for blocks of 4-6 weeks. We will be using the curriculum, Seasons of the Spirit External link.

Children Engaging the Word is offered each Sunday morning for children in kindergarten and up. Children begin their Sunday morning experience in worship, including a Theme Conversation with the minister, then go to their session.

The Sunday School occasionally prepares a special concert for the congregation, such as "We like sheep" on Shepherd Sunday, pictured on the right.

Youth begin in worship and then go with Laurie Howard, our Youth Minister, for a time of discussion and activity.

In previous years, the children have had the opportunity to meet with a number of adults in the congregation and learn about their particular skill, interest, or travel trip. Sometime it's cooking, sometimes it's music but the children and youth have experienced a varied program under the direction of Emily Harasen.

Learn about some of the program themes for children on The United Church of Canada web site External link.

Toddlers and infants are at play in the nursery with their parents

Sunday Nursery is available for infants and toddlers during the Sunday Service. Teams of adults provide care and supervision. Parents are welcome to stay if they wish. Safe, creative toys and equipment are on hand in a secure and cozy area off the sanctuary.

Youth at CFRUC young people from about age 12 are welcome to meet with our Youth Minister on Sunday mornings for a time of discussion or activity. In addition there are other events and activities scheduled for other times.
