Children's Program

Children Engaging the Word is offered each Sunday morning for children in kindergarten and up. Children begin their Sunday morning experience in worship, including a Theme Conversation with the minister, then go to their session.

Children's Learning: This past year the children have had the opportunity to meet with a number of adults in the congregation and learn about their particular skill, interest, travel trip. Sometime it's cooking, sometimes it's music but the children and youth have experienced a varied program under the direction of Emily Harasen.

The Sunday school performed a special concert for the congregation "We like sheep" for Shepherd Sunday

Youth also begin in worship and then go with our Laurie Howard our Youth Minister, for a time of discussion and activity. Watch for other intergenerational events!

Youth at CFRUC young people from about age 12 are welcome to meet with our Youth Minister on Sunday mornings for a time of discussion or activity. In addition there are other events and activities scheduled for other times.

Faith Formation & Christian Education

[ What Is Faith Formation? ]

While the staff of the FFE Unit of The United Church of Canada have chosen to use the term "faith formation" to describe what was formally known as Christian education, we are aware that "Christian education" is a term that continues to be used and have meaning for the majority of congregations. Some congregations use Christian development, while very few use faith formation.

We acknowledge that while faith formation has meaning for those active in wider bodies of the church, it has little meaning for congregations. Education and understanding will need to continue while honouring the language that congregations understand. For this reason, we use both faith formation and Christian education.
